Learn in 60 minutes. Greek Mythology, Beyond Mount Olympus. Something different from ChocolatePages!

Thanks to Tyler at ‘in60learning’ for my copy of Greek Mythology, Beyond Mount Olympus. When Tyler asked me if I wanted to read and review any of their ‘ Learn in 60 Minutes’ books, I was intrigued. There is quite a catalogue of topics and each book allows you to read and learn about the topic in ( as the name says) 60 minutes. I decided to read Greek Mythology first. I also looked at Ivan the Terrible. Both sounded like something interesting I could learn from.

My Thoughts:

This book does what it says it will and gives an intense view of the topic in the said reading time. To read about all the Greek Gods, their ideas, history and relations to each other and present day thoughts was a lot to take in. If I was to read this book in the given 60 minutes, I wouldn’t remember very much of it. There is a lot of information.

For those who want to read for educational purposes and have a great interest in the topic, this series would be fantastic.

For me, it was a bit too much of a hard read. For me reading is escapism and excitement. So I personally won’t be reading any more of these books. However for the right type of reader these books will be great. They give a balanced and real exploration of Greek Mythology, which includes a wide array of knowledge all compacted into a quick read.

I was surprised to learn how much of this mythology has affected present day, for example the books, movies and comics we read and watch are so often based on super heroes which many originate from Greek Gods. There are many interesting facts in this book, and the learn in 60 minutes is a great idea for those who like to explore and learn about topics in a short amount of time.

I thought Greek Mythology would be really interesting and it is. I think I just wasn’t in the right reading space to learn. I like escapism stories better.
Thanks Irena. I hope we get this new law thing sorted. 😚
