Book Review: Jane Once More by R G Dow.

Jane Once More is the sequel to Jane of Manchester, which I reviewed HERE!. I was happy when Author R G Dow approached me asking me to read and review this sequel. Jane of Manchester was a really easy reading book for me, so I was expecting the same kind of ease of read from Jane Once More.

Jane once more

Kindle Edition, 191 pages

Published October 6th 2017 by Dow Books

Description:

Jane is back and so are her friends and family but time stands still for no-one, as they say, and so has she moved on at all with her life?

Carrying on from the first book, Jane of Manchester, there is plenty of fun left to be had as Jane and her friends continue to have a laugh in the city, but change may be just around the corner…

More giggles, good times and drama from Jane and the crew!

My Thoughts:

Jane Once More was as I expected after the first book, it was easy reading. And as with the last book, I listened to it on audiobook while I was doing more monotonous things, like ironing and preparing lunches!! I didn’t need to concentrate much on the story as it followed Jane’s life, her work, friends and family, and also lots of her take aways!

Jane Once More follows the life of a ‘normal’ British girl, with the exception of the lack of social media, which was actually really refreshing as she saw and spoke to her friends and family, She texted a lot, but it was to meet them.

The book is almost written as diary style, (without the days and dates). Jane’s life is not particularly exciting, but she has a good group of friends, colleagues and family. Between hearing about them all and following Jane on her day to day goings on, the reader feels like they know Jane and almost particpate in her life with her.

As a real foodie, I liked all the eating in and out discussions. There was also the development of a relationship in this novel, of which there were none in the last book.

*(It is not essential to read the first book before this, but it will give more of a background if you do).

Jane Once More is a fun easy read. I am expecting another book to follow this one, as it was left with the scope to continue.

Sounds like an easy read to me, and it’s funny how audio books make you “read” even when you have obligations and every day things to do…
Nice to see people (if only in books) actually meet and talk in person instead on social media. I think with social media people who used to talked in person actually kinda talk less in real life now, which is sad…

Yes I agree. I wonder if the author is of the older generation and doesn’t use social media much? The authors name is a pen name.
I love putting my kindle on speaker so I can still ‘read’ while doing other things. šŸ˜Š

This sounds perfect for a little break from all the events happening in lots of genres. I should totally get it for slow days when I have chores and errands! The lack of social media is very appealing to me at the moment! Great review, my dear šŸ™‚ xxx

It’s just perfect for exactly that Meggy, a book for listening to while you have other things to do. I have another review coming tomorrow which is set before social media became so ‘all consuming’ to some. Thank you.
