Top Ten Hyped Books I’ve Never Read!

Top Ten Hyped Books I’ve Never Read!

Thank you to Broke and Bookish for hosting this Top Ten Tuesday post. I don’t post with this every Tuesday, but today I’m joining in.

The topic today is Top Ten Hyped Books I’ve Never Read.

So, I will start off with the MOST HYPED book I know, and I’m sure many of you will be aghast to know that I haven’t read….

1. HARRY POTTER! No, not any of them, haven’t seen the films either!

Maybe I will one day, but….. I just haven’t read them yet!

2. Red Queen. – This has had lots of reviews and been spoken about loads on Twitter over the past while. The cover looks great, and I probably will read it at some point. But… I just haven’t read it yet!

3. The Hunger Games. – I have seen the first 2 films and loved them, still awaiting seeing the latest film. But haven’t gotten around to the books. I have heard that the books are better than the films, and I do believe this. But … I just haven’t read them yet.

4. The Fault in Our Stars. – No not this one either! This one doesn’t really tickle my fancy, I think it will be a sad read and I want my reading escapism to be happy or exciting or romantic or thrilling, definitely not sad. I won’t be reading this one at all.

5. The Book Thief – This one I am surprised at myself for, because the reviews have been raving. Also, I love the title and I love the film. I am so sure that I will love this book, but…I just haven’t read it yet!

6. The Girl On The Train. – I think I didn’t read this at the time because there was so much hype about it. I read loads of reviews, mostly glowing. So, this is still on my tbr list. But…. I just haven’t read it yet!

7. The Perks of Being A Wallflower. – I was a late finder with this one. I missed the hype when it was big. I think because it must be such a great book, the hype has stuck with this one. So, I will read this at some point. But….I just haven’t read it yet!

8. Gone Girl. – I like the sound of this book. The reviews I have read have been mixed, but I still think I will give it a chance. I was actually speaking to my local librarian about this book, as it was at the front of the library as one of their recommended books. But she herself just wasn’t getting into it. Mixed reactions, I guess. Opinions appreciated on this one? I think I will keep it on my tbr list. But…I just haven’t read it yet!

9. Any Books by Rainbow Rowell! I know this is terrible!! I know from reviews and much book chat that she is an amazing Author. As a bookblogger, I should be ashamed of myself. I am!! However, I recently won a competition to chose any book ( that had been reviewed on the site) that I wanted to be sent to me from Book Depository. I chose Landline and it has arrived and is sitting looking pretty on my shelf. I need to read this, but….I just haven’t read it yet!

10. Fifty Shades of Grey. – I have a feeling that this might be on quite a few bloggers and readers list!??? Am I right? Very hyped up, but actually I haven’t read that many good reviews for it. I hasn’t been on my tbr list before, and I think it will be staying of it. I think it would be an ok read, but there are too many great reads to read first. I may read it at some point in my life…maybe?? But….I just haven’t read it yet!

So, there are my 10 hyped books that I just haven’t read yet! Some I will read, some I won’t. Have you read any of these? Do you recommend that I read any particular? And what books haven’t you read that are hyped up. I’d love to hear from you.

Top Ten Tuesday: Inspiring Quotes from Books.

Top Ten Tuesday: Inspiring Quotes from Books.

This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is all about Inspiring Quotes from Books. It will be quotes that inspire, challenge, encourage or make you think……and all from books.

I have seen these posts around a lot and I love reading them. This is the first time I have participated in Top Ten Tuesday. This is originally the idea of and hosted by ‘The Broke and Bookish‘, and a lovely way to share bookish thoughts with like minded people.

1. “Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it”Anne Shirley from ‘Anne of Green Gables’ by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Something I always remember when I’m having a bad day. I love Anne!

2. “Just because you can’t see the stage, doesn’t mean you can’t dance on it”Aubrey from ‘Blue Sun, Yellow Sky’ by Jamie Jo Hoang. Amazing book with so many great quotes, see my review of it here:

3. I’m going to take another quote from this book because I loved it so much, and found it inspirational.

Everything that’s broken was beautiful at one time. And our mistakes make us better people”. Aubrey – ‘Blue Sun, Yellow Sky’ This book really is fantastic and I can’t rave about it enough.

4. ” I don’t feel very much like Pooh today” said Pooh.

“There, there” said Piglet, “I’ll bring you tea and honey until you do”

Pooh and Piglet, – Winnie the Pooh, by A A Milne.

The ultimate children’s book of unconditional friendship.

5. “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeam and you will always look lovely.” – ‘The Twits’, by Roald Dahl

Children’s books sometimes give the loveliest and truest quotes don’t they?

6. The worst thing that can be done to children is to drain their energy while correcting them.”  ― James Redfield, ‘The Celestine Prophecy‘.

As a learning assistant in a special needs school, I am so aware that we need to raise the confidence and education of our kids. This comes with praise, fun and trust.

7. “You don’t love someone because they’re perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they’re not” – Jodi Picoult, My Sisters Keeper.

This was the first Jodi Picoult book that I read, and it got me hooked to Picoult’s writing. There are always morals to her books. I love them.

8. “Extraordinary thigs are always hiding in places people never think to look”, Jodi Picoult, ‘My Sister’s Keeper’.

Another great quote from Picoult, if you haven’t read any of her books, then I strongly recommend that you do.

9. “Life isn’t finding shelter in the storm. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”
Sherrilyn Kenyon, Acheron.

Actually I haven’t heard of this book, but I do really like the quote. When I googled to see where the quote came from, this came up? If anyone knows of this book, I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I just love the quote.

This is one of the first quotes and pictures I used when I started this blog, so it is quite dear to me.

10. “You have been my friend and that itself is a tremendous thing”. Charlottes Web, by E.B. White.

charlottes web

What a lovely quote, because after all love and friendship is what should make us happy, even when all else is collapsing or when you have all the money / job / possessions – love and friendship is what is most important. (I think anyway).

Well, my first Top Ten Tuesday is done, I hope to do more of these in the future. If you liked these quotes, please let me know and if you have any of your own I would love to hear them.

Happy reading folks.
