Fracture could be read as a stand alone, but I would highly recommend reading Tremor first, as it is amazing!! You may remember I reviewed and raved about Tremor a while ago. You can refresh your memoryHERE

I was so very happy and honoured to be asked to join this blog tour. As I really loved the Author’s first book, I was sure that Fracture was also going to be amazing. I wasn’t wrong!!

My review of Fracture will follow soon, but today I want to share the details of Fracture with you.

I was also lucky enough to be able to interview one of the characters from the books. But before that, here are the details of Ryan Mark’s books:

Tremor:

Description:

ISBN: 1906954836

The life William knew has gone. His world has been left devastated by the Fossil War. All major governments have been wiped out and the land is now under the control of the company Terrafall. Although Terrafall’s intentions seem honest, William wonders if the company will live up to its promises and stop the tremors, which have been plaguing the Earth since the end of the war. And can Terrafall really find out who is behind the recent wave of abductions?

When someone close to William disappears, he decides it’s time to take matters into his own hands. But in a land that is on the verge of tearing itself apart, is it a life worth fighting for? If your world was falling apart, how far would YOU go to save it?

If you want a reminder of my review of Tremor, you can read it:  HERE

Fracture:

Description:

ISBN: 1910565393

The Earth is starting to recover from the onslaught of destruction left behind by the tremors and Terrafall. William’s life is settling and he has finally found a place where he feels he belongs. With the opportunity to flourish, the Haven Development has been able to secure the future of its lands and people, bringing forth a period of peace and stability.

Yet something sinister quakes beneath the surface, hiding in the shadows, unknown to William and the Haven Development. Not a tremor, but a new enemy who threatens to tear apart everything William and his friends have fought so hard to protect. The peace is about to fracture…

Fracture

Now that you are totally gripped, here is my lovely interview with one of the characters from both books, I introduce to you Igraine

What do you remember about life before the tremors began?

Fond memories fill my heart when I think about this question. Memories of my husband, memories of my youth, memories of a time less tragic than this one. Oh how lovely it would be to go back in time and live those years again! However, although I hold these memories close to my heart, I do appreciate this new future, and I will not take what I have now for granted. Life is getting better, and I’m glad to be a part of this new world.

What does an ideal world look like through your eyes?

A world where everyone can live in harmony with the planet would be outstanding! I believe a bright and comfortable future can be achieved with hard work and cooperation, and the Haven Development is a testament to this!

What is your greatest fear?

Seeing my husband’s death, yet again.

Have you any regrets in life?

That I couldn’t save my husband, couldn’t stop Terrafall when I watched them rise to power. I had the chance to look into its management during its early days, but I was naïve and too wrapped up in my own problems. I regret this every day of my life.

Are you and Branimir close?

Of course, I am his deputy and will always stand by his side. He has done a huge amount of good for the survivors of the war.

If you could go back in time, before everything happened, what advice would you give yourself?

I would’ve looked into the rulership of Terrafall, would’ve tried to prevent my husband’s death. But that is a fleeting dream, one which I cannot succeed on. This question, though good, fills me with a sense of melancholy.

Are you proud of what the Haven Development has achieved?

Oh of course, what has been achieved is wonderful! The Haven Development is trying to show that there is hope, that all is not dark and miserable. We have built a future out of the destruction, and are trying to show that we can live with the Earth in harmony. I will always stand by what we have done, and I will protect it with my life if I have to. We need a future.

Thank you Igraine and Author Ryan Mark for this lovely and heartfelt interview, I appreciate your honesty and wish you all the best of luck for the future.

Book Review: Tremor by Ryan Mark AND Giveaway!

Book Review: Tremor by Ryan Mark AND Giveaway!

Thank you very much to Author Ryan Mark for my signed copy of his new book. I don’t read many books of this genre (dystopian fiction). It is also Young Adult, which I haven’t read that many of, in my adult life either. But after conversing with Ryan over email and Twitter and reading the book description, I was intrigued and excited by the book description.

Ryan Mark has also been kind enough to offer my readers a signed copy of his book, which after reading my review of it, I’m sure you will ALL want to enter!! 😉

My Thoughts:

This book is about William who has found his world shattered and taken over by a group called Terrafall. Its a world where it no longer feels like Earth, barely any food, barely any green land, and the feeling of not being able to trust anyone or feel safe, even in his own house!

William and his friend Althea (what a great name) decide to do something about this after both losing people they love, the story follows from here…The book is aimed at young adult, dystopian genre. Although aimed at young adult, I’m not (that) young and still loved it.

Ryan Mark is a very talented and imaginative Author, he has come up with a story that is an exciting page turner. It gripped me as a reader from the first chapter, wanting to know who are the bad guys, what will they do next and how will William ever feel safe again.

The characters are great, I was taken by William and Althea straight away. William has a journal of his fathers, and while reading it at school, someone says this to him:

“Poor William and his unnatural love of books”

Ooh, now that is a sure way to make us booklovers really not like the bad guys in this story!!

The Author managed to keep a good balance between being young heros and still being children in his writing. He writes the innocence of a child, when talking about about death as in ‘gone to paradise‘ Ori asks ‘can we go there too?‘ I think its important in young adult books to keep in mind that the characters are children despite being in adventurous situations, and Ryan Mark did this very well.

The Authors description work really puts a picture in your head, I love the way he writes, so heartfelt and engaged.

“Giving up is like sitting in a puddle while its raining. Pointless and painful”

As we get further on in the book, we see Terrafall get darker and scarier. I won’t tell you what they did and their cultish ideas, but I feel the way the Author dealt with these storylines was very clever. I thought that the way the main characters William and Althea spoke of these things was intelligent and moral. It reminded me of how easily people can be influenced by people who seem powerful. I really commend the Author for this part of the book.

“..it didn’t take long for the people who manage Terrafall to go along with Erisia, so what’s to stop others believing?”

The book is full of good morals and although these morals and doing the right thing is not a blatant part of the storyline, its just the bits that stuck out for me, as in the underlying thoughts when I was enjoying the story.

“Fight for what’s right. That’s what everyone should do.”

There are some great quotes that really stuck out for me, and while I was reading the book, I stopped and thought about the things the characters were saying, for the story, but also for me too. I think Ryan Mark is very talented and his ability to write great stories, great characters and make me think about myself too. I really am looking forward to reading more of his work.

“Stuff you can’t see hurts the most, like love”

‘Tremor’ by Ryan Mark. Video Trailer and Q & A.

‘Tremor’ by Ryan Mark. Video Trailer and Q & A.

I have just finished an amazing book called Tremor by Ryan Mark. I will share my review with you tomorrow, but today I’m sharing the video trailer of this brilliant book and a question and answer from Ryan Mark himself.

The Author was kind enough to offer my readers a signed copy of his book, the giveaway will start tomorrow, so keep your eyes out for it.

Have a look at this video trailer for the very exciting book Tremor.

Thank you very much for my copy of your book ‘Tremor’, and let me first say how much I enjoyed it! It was an exciting, page turner. I loved it, but my review will be tomorrow. I just have a few questions for you today.

tremor

1. You write with amazing imagination, can I ask where the ideas came from?

The Dystopian and Post-apocalyptic genres have fascinated me for a long time. I believe these are the most frightening and potentially life changing genres around at the moment. I’ve always wondered what would happen if the world we knew changed forever, if society fell and the human race had to start again. How would this change the world, and what would we be left with? This led me to the question: What if? What if the world you knew was destroyed? If the life you knew was torn apart? And it was from these thoughts that the imaginings of a story formed, which became ultimately became Tremor.

2. I loved the book so much, I hope there is more coming from you and the Tremor characters?

The characters will be back! The sequel to Tremor will be released later this year. Fracture is scheduled to be released on the 1st of October and is now available to pre-order. Here’s the blurb:

The Earth is starting to recover from the destruction left behind by the tremors and Terrafall. William’s life is settling and he has finally found a place where he feels he belongs. With the opportunity to flourish, the Haven Development has been able to secure the future of its lands and people, bringing forth a period of peace and stability.
