Book Review: Daisy in Chains, by Sharon Bolton.
After hearing some great reviews and tweets about this book, I was excited to start this thriller of a book. Daisy in Chains is the first book I have read by Sharon Bolton, but I am quite sure it won’t be the last. I loved it.

My Thoughts:
This book is an intense and very gripping psychological thriller. It is a page turner of a book that made me read later and longer than I should have.
Usually in my book reviews, I will comment on whether the characters were relate-able or fully developed. Well, in this book there are two main characters, true crime writer and lawyer Maggie Rose. Also Hamish Wolfe who is in prison for murder. I was curious and suspicious of both characters throughout, as the reader is made to wonder about the relationship between the two. Rose is asked to look at Wolfe’s case and to try to fight for his innocence, and we are led to wonder who is gaining most from this relationship, and which of them is playing games.
An interesting point of this book is the women who fall in love with prisoners, those who become prison wives. The Author seems to have done her research and comes up with interesting reasons and explanations about what others may find strange and struggle to understand. As we can see from the blurb of the book, “Wolfe has a fan club”!
Maggie Rose has blue hair, therefore as a lawyer this immediately brings attention to her personality and how she wants to be portrayed by others. I read on the Author’s website that she had this photo up to inspire her about Maggie Rose. Weirdly the Author didn’t notice the daisy brooch until later on. We do not know who this lady is, but I feel grateful that she was an inspiration for Sharon Bolton to write a brilliant character such as Maggie Rose.
The twist at the end of the book is amazing. About two thirds of the way through the book, you are given an idea of where the plot is heading. But the twist is a roller coaster of excitement until the final page whereby I took a gasp and a sigh as everything made sense. This book made me think for days after finishing it. I thought back to all the bits I had read earlier on and each time saying, ah yes! I loved it, and if you like psychological thrillers, I truly recommend Daisy in Chains.

Great review, definitely a read for me. I love psychological thrillers – and with a twist at the end – cant wait to read. I haven’t read any books by Sharon Bolton so this is a new one for me.

This was the first Sharon Bolton book I have read too, but I will be watching out for more of her books. I think she has a new coming out next year? I’m sure you will enjoy this book, it sounds like just your kind of read.

It’s so interesting to hear about everything that can inspire an author to write a book.
And this lady looks somewhat unusual.
Ohh, I watched the documentary about prisoner’s wifes, who get married while their boyfriends are still in prison.
Here in Croata you can even call 10 people to celebrate the wedding and drink soda and eat chips. 😀
I told my boyfriend that if he ever ends up in prison, we’re getting married, because it sounds less stressful.

I’m not sure how the prison Weddings work here, but I don’t remember hearing anyone say you can have chips and soda and guests! It does sound like a lot less hassle and much cheaper though. I do hope you won’t be a prison wife though! 😉

Fabulous review. I find the idea of women marrying prisoners so difficult to understand that the book makes me curious for the reasons it gives. Also, the characters sound so good it would be a shame not to give it a try.

Thank you. The plot was brilliant with the twists, but also that strange idea of prison wives too made it all the more intriguing. If you read it, I’m sure you will love it too.
